MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE
MLD Massage & Management of Lymphoedema
(ALA Accredited)
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) massage is a gentle, rhythmic massage technique designed to stimulate lymphatic flow to help reduce the symptoms of Lymphoedema and improve tissue health.
Lymphoedema can occur when the lymphatic system has been impaired due to surgery, lymph node removal, radiation, infection, or in the case of some rare genetic conditions. Tissues, particularly of the arms, legs, hands and feet can become uncomfortably swollen and possibly fibrotic. Recurrent infections in the effected area can become a problem and a feeling of heaviness or tightness may be felt.
Symptoms can be very effectively managed with a three-pointed approach of targeted MLD Massage, compression therapy and gentle movement therapy, such as clinical Pilates, however early intervention is of critical importance.
Liane is qualified to deliver complex physical therapy for the assessment and management of Lymphoedema, and is an accredited practitioner with the Australian Lymphoedema Association (ALA).
Movement is the the lymphatic system’s pump and our onsite Clinical Pilates studio offers safe tailored to the individual movement programs under the guidance of Liane who is certified with the Cancer Exercise Training Institute and our other instructors who are trained physiotherapists.
If you, or someone you know is living with Lymphoedema, let us help you with a tailored program of MLD massage, compression and movement therapy to assist you on your journey to better health.
